Mr. George White, Principal
A native of Sumter, South Carolina, George R. White is a proud graduate of Benedict College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in English and remains a devoted alumnus of the mighty Tigers. He is also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., upholding the fraternity’s founding principles of brotherhood, scholarship, and service.
Mr. White began his professional journey in television, working in production at the ABC affiliate in Columbia, South Carolina. In 2002, he relocated to Charleston and joined Live 5 WCSC, the local CBS affiliate, where he worked in graphic arts. While he found success in broadcasting, he soon discovered a deeper calling—one grounded in his upbringing as the son of two lifelong educators and the inspiration he received from his own teachers. That foundation led him to pursue a career in education.
He began his educational career as a substitute teacher in Allendale, South Carolina, before joining Charleston County School District in 2004 as a teacher assistant. In 2006, he entered the PACE program and transitioned into teaching middle school English, where he served sixth through eighth grade students with passion and purpose.
In 2012, Mr. White stepped into school leadership, serving as an assistant principal for 11 years before being named interim principal of Morningside Middle School. Most recently, he was appointed principal of Liberty Hill Academy, where he is honored to lead a school built on restoration, elevation, and transformation.
Mr. White holds a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision, and an education specialist degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. As principal of Liberty Hill Academy, he remains committed to reimagining the future for all scholars—at the core, every student, every day.
